Networking Settings
Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Network. You should see the screen shot shown below. This shot shows the settings you must have to connect to the Internet. In some computers you may have other items listed in the Network Components box. That is normally OK but you do need to remove "Windows Family Log on". Unnecessary items listed here can slow up the operation of your computer. If your computer has a network card and/or is connected to network (LAN) then you will have more components listed here.
TCP/IP Settings: Double click on "TCP/IP -> Dial Up Adapter" and set it up as follows.
IP Address:
DNS: Put your User Name (Login Name) where is says "UserName"
Gateway settings need to be left blank.
WINS Configuration needs to be disabled.
All other settings need to be left as the default.
You are now ready to dial into the Internet.
