Announcement of change in format required for dial-up usernames

In order to support future growth, we need to get all of our users to use the @tcworks.net, @arbbs.net, or @cyberback.com suffix with their dial-up username. With the recent merging of the three ISPs, we now have multiple phone numbers servicing most of our local towns. In order to authenticate users no matter what number they call, we need to use the domain suffixes on the dial-up usernames.

This does not have any effect on your e-mail address. This is used only to get dialed into the Internet with a modem. Your e-mail address will not change.

We have built this web page describing the instructions for adding the appropriate domain suffix to your dial-up username. We recommend that you read the instructions for your particular operating system, Windows 2000/Windows XP/Windows Vista/Mac OSX/etc., and perhaps print the instructions before beginning to make the change. The changes needed are very simple, but if something does goes wrong, like an accidental typographical error, you may not be able to get online to re-read the instructions. We will be requiring the domain suffix for all users to dial into our network as we move to integrate the dial-up rollover numbers. Until we integrate the rollovers, you would need to enter multiple phone numbers to take advantage of the other dial-up lines in your town. The dial-up suffix is already required to make use of the nationwide dial-up numbers we provide.

If you make the change in the daytime, during normal tech support hours, 8am to 7pm M-F, 9am to 1pm Saturday, you will be able to get ahold of someone who can help you with the change should you run into any problems. Please make the changes as soon as possible.
